Fatmata Fullah does not know her exact age. She believes to be over 18. She is not aware of suffering from an infection to her left jawbone for almost two years. She is eight months pregnant with her first child. She lives in a remote village in Sierra Leone, a country with one of the highest mother mortality rates in the world. Africa Surgery is paying to have her jaw medically and surgically treated as an out-patient at the main government hospital in Freetown. We have enrolled Fatmata in a pre-natal program at a satellite hospital, also in Freetown, where she will receive weekly check-ups and advice from a specialized nurse.
